Northwest Financial Advisors Celebrates Twenty-Five Years of Partnering and Planning with Purpose

Herndon, Va. — Northwest Financial Advisors (NWFA) today announced that the firm recently hit a major milestone in reaching its twenty-fifth anniversary.

Northwest Financial Advisors is a subsidiary of NW Capital Management (NWCM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwest Federal Credit Union (Northwest Federal). The company was established as a credit union services organization (CUSO) in June of 1995 to offer Northwest Federal members access to trusted investment and insurance services. It went through several name iterations prior to selecting the name Northwest Financial Advisors in 2014. Shortly thereafter, the firm introduced a new slogan, “Partnering and Planning with Purpose.” The company name and tagline reflect the primary focus of its services: providing qualified, reputable advisors who, working in close partnership with their clients, offer advice and guidance pertaining to a wide range of wealth management needs — from investment portfolio management to retirement income planning to estate planning.

Kevin Fisher joined the company in October of 2005 as vice president and was promoted to president in July 2007. “When I started with the firm, we were a small operation with only three advisors and a few support staff to serve the credit union membership,” said Fisher. “I’m amazed and proud of how much we have grown since then, both in the size of our team and the amount of client assets we manage — from approximately $200 million in assets under management (AUM) in 1995 to $1.6 billion in AUM as of June 2020. I want to wholeheartedly thank our clients who have entrusted us with managing their assets for so many years. Without our clients, we would not be here today. Servicing and satisfying our clients is really what it is all about,” said Fisher.

Karen Benedict, senior VP of NWFA since February 2014 said, “I am excited to celebrate this anniversary which clearly demonstrates our longevity in the wealth management industry. I join Kevin in my sincere appreciation of our clients whom we have had the privilege of serving for so many years. Through both ideal and challenging market conditions, their trust in us has not wavered. We are pleased to share this important milestone with them.”

NWFA has grown from three financial advisors in its earliest years to a team of 11 in 2020. With this growth in staff came the capability to serve members through multiple Northwest Federal branch locations. In addition to in-person and telephone appointments, the firm now offers virtual appointments, ensuring consistent service through remote work capabilities.
